Auditing every exam stage, live, as it happened

How Paradigm ran a three-stage concurrent audit of Presidency University's examinations, from paper setting to results, including its digital exam and ERP systems, and shared clear findings with leadership.

3 stages

Pre-exam, live conduct, and evaluation and results

9 days

On-site audit, timed to the live examination cycle

2 systems

Exam platform and academic ERP, tested end to end

3 experts

Governance, examination and IT systems auditors

The challenge

Digital exams need digital-grade assurance

Presidency had moved its examinations onto a digital platform linked to its ERP. It wanted independent assurance that processes, data flows and controls were secure, accurate and compliant.

Our approach

Concurrent, not after the fact

We audited each stage while it was happening, combining document review, interviews, live observation, sampling and system-to-system data reconciliation.

The impact

Findings leadership can act on

The audit was completed across all three stages, and findings were shared with university leadership as scored reports, a corrective action matrix and an improvement roadmap.

What we audited

Four audit areas, one exam lifecycle

Pre-Examination Controls

01
  • Question paper secrecy and storage
  • Hall tickets, seating and timetables
  • Output: readiness score and gap report

Examination Conduct

02
  • ID checks, invigilation and malpractice
  • Script custody, scanning and allocation
  • Output: integrity score and action matrix

Evaluation and Results

03
  • Digital marking, rubrics and moderation
  • Mark totals and grade conversion re-checked
  • Output: evaluation assurance certificate

Digital Systems and Compliance

04
  • Exam-to-ERP data and API reconciliation
  • UGC, NAAC and DPDP Act alignment
  • Output: system integrity report and roadmap

Outcome: Three-stage audit completed; findings shared with leadership
